Punjab Labour Appellate Tribunal is a apex court of Labour rights and to appellate authority of Punjab Labour Courts. Labour Courts, Authority under Payment of wages Act 1936 & The Commissioner under Workmen's Compensation Act 1923 are the organ & lower tier of Punjab Appellate Tribunal.
Punjab Labour Appellate Tribunal (PLAT) is a forum for appeals against the Orders/Judgements passed by the Labour Courts falling under the territorial jurisdiction of this Tribunal. The Tribunal has been established under Punjab Industrial Relations Act 2010. All workmen who work in industrial and commercial establishments can approach Labour Courts in disputes arising out of their employment with their employers. However Civil servants of Punjab can approach Punjab Service Tribunal by way of filing appeal in matters regarding their terms and conditions of service. PLAT is presided by a Chairman who may be a retired judge of a High court or a practising advocate who is eligible to become a judge of a High Court having a minimum standing of ten years practice in High Court. The judgments passed by the PLAT are reported in law journals or reports if they are approved for reporting. The judgments passed by PLAT can be challenged by way of Constitutional petition in High Court.
A typical Government organizational model with less helpful and less interested people sitting in. Relief is the only purpose of this building and relief is the hardest thing to obtain from here though. Located on main Shadman road and easy access.
